Screen sites faster.

Upload a site, choose the analyses and years, and Maya will do its job. After a few minutes, you receive your results, including maps, charts and text that enable you to understand new sites faster.

Identify new sites faster.

Define an area and your selection rules, and Maya will generate polygons that match your criteria. You can use the prospecting features to quickly identify eligible project areas or areas with the highest carbon potential within a larger region.

Ask your copilot for results.

For screening sites, prospecting new sites, or managing your geo-assets – your copilot understands your needs and will automate repetitive work for you. Make the most of your time and let Maya generate maps, charts, and texts for you.

Manage all sites in one place.

Technical teams have a lot of polygons to manage. Our asset management makes managing your polygons easy, and if you work on grouped projects with multi-polygons, it allows you to run isolated or grouped analyses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the target user for Maya ?

keyboard_arrow_down

We enable teams involved in financing, developing, or advising on Nature-based Solutions (NbS), such as Forest Carbon (ARR, REDD+, IFM, Agroforestry) and Blue Carbon (ARR, REDD+).
While Maya is immensely beneficial for GIS experts, our platform ensures that no prior expertise is required to gain valuable insights from our automated analyses.

For what project types can I use Maya ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Maya offers pre-configured assessment pipelines (i.e., a set combination of analyses) for Forest Carbon (ARR, REDD+, IFM, Agroforestry) and Blue Carbon (ARR, REDD+) projects. For instance, the Blue Carbon ARR pipeline includes the following analyses: Meta Registry, World Bank Governance Indicators, Mangrove Cover, Land Cover (Dynamic World & NDVI from Landsat imagery), Fire Risk, Drought Risk (PDSI & Soil Moisture), Flood Risk Coastal.

Additionally, users have the flexibility to select individual analyses or customise their own assessment pipelines, ensuring that they have all the necessary analysis at hand for their day-to-day operations – with just one click.

What type of analyses are automated on Maya ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Maya currently offers analyses for: Land Cover, Forest Cover, Mangrove Cover, Biomass, Canopy Height, Land Eligibility, Drought Risk, Fire Risk, Flood Risk, Coastal Flood Risk, Governance Indicators, and the Meta Registry (comprising locally issuing carbon projects listed on the major four carbon registries), and more.

For a comprehensive look at our analysis offerings, please check out our detailed Analysis Catalog.

What is the Asset Management function on Maya ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Maya's new integrated asset management, allows you to manage complex multipolygons and create new assets for groups of polygons to run grouped analyses.

What is the size limitation for project areas ?

keyboard_arrow_down

The maximum project area is 500,000 ha, with a maximum bounding box of 1,000,000 hectares. Please note that both size limits must include a 5% buffer around the polygons. If you want to analyse larger areas, you can do so by splitting the polygon into smaller ones with the help of Maya’s Asset Management tool.

Can I use Maya to estimate the carbon credit potential of a site ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Check out the description for ARR Carbon Sequestration Potential analysis to learn more about it.

Are the results compatible with Verra ?

keyboard_arrow_down

The results can be used if the underlying dataset you choose for your analysis job is compatible with Verra.

For example, Verra’s ARR methodology, VM0047, requires for the census-based approach that ‘the project activity must occur in an area classified as non-forest for the past 10 years with less than 10% pre-existing woody biomass cover’. Additionally, it must be ensured that no woody biomass has been removed within the last 10 years, as ‘confirmed via pre-project photo and/or attestation’ (VM0047 v1.0, p.9). Here, Maya can assist you by conducting automated geospatial analysis of historic land cover, providing instant insights into whether this requirement would be met. The analysis output can then be attached to your application at Verra as supportive documentation, upon approval by the VVB.

For more details on Verra’s ARR methodology, VM0047, and to download your own Eligibility Checklist, you can read our blog post here.

Does Maya have global coverage ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Yes, most datasets integrated into Maya provide global coverage. Additionally, we offer select regional datasets to enhance your analysis, such as the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI), tailored for assessing drought conditions in Asia.

Who developed the datasets that Maya is integrating ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Integrated datasets are developed by globally leading research institutes, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), the United States Forest Service (USFS), the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, the Global Land Analysis and Discovery (GLAD) laboratory at the University of Maryland, Google, and others.

For a full list of analyses available on Maya, along with details about their underlying datasets and dataset providers, please visit our Analysis Catalog page.

How does Maya ensure the accuracy of the results ?

keyboard_arrow_down

The accuracy of the results depends on the model utilised or developed for the respective datasets used for Maya’s automated analyses. Maya ensures access to widely used and trusted datasets.

Across most broader analysis categories, such as Land Use, users can choose from various analyses, such as Dynamic World, ESA WorldCover, NDVI (Landsat), NDVI (Sentinel), and compare outputs. This approach ensures insights into the robustness of analysis results across different datasets within the same analysis category.

Are the results AI-generated ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Our AI-model is trained solely on Maya’s analysis outputs and assists with translating analysis outputs into clear text commentary. Our AI-chatbot answers your questions regarding your assets and existing analysis pipelines, and can help with starting a new analysis pipeline. The AI-model does not access any external information.

What happens if you don’t have a dataset I need ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Please let us know which datasets you are currently missing and we will evaluate whether to integrate them on Maya based on technical feasibility, value added to our current offerings, and the number of customers requesting the specific dataset.

Can I host my own datasets & models on Maya ?

keyboard_arrow_down

If it’s a publicly available dataset, we can host it at no additional cost for you. However, it would also be accessible to all users on the Maya platform in that case. For your proprietary models, we can assess their integration on the Maya platform on a case-by-case basis to determine technical feasibility. In this case, the integration would come at an additional service cost for you but the dataset would of course not be made available to other users. Please also see “What happens if you don’t have a dataset I need”.

Who has access to my data ?

keyboard_arrow_down

Only you ! Your data will not be used for training our AI or for any other purpose or shared with any third party.

How much does Maya cost ?

keyboard_arrow_down

The pricing depends on your usage and the analysis jobs that you want to access. Get a quote here.
